couples but here are some interesting questions that Janet has chosen to answer.
So you will find Janet's experience as a civil celebrant is an advantage because

(Q) Can I get married anytime I want?
(A) No, you have to give 1 month and 1 day's notice to the celebrant
(Q) Are there any exceptions to this rule?
(A) Yes, but each individual case has to be assessed by the Registry of
Births, Deaths & Marriages
(Q) Can I marry my first cousin?
(A) Yes, legally you can
(Q) Can I include other people in my ceremony other than the celebrant?
(A) Whilst the majority of the ceremony must be performed by the
celebrant other people can do smaller sections such as poetry readings
(Q) Will I need all of my divorce papers, Ive been married 3 times?
(A) No you will only need your most recent divorce papers
(Q) Do I have to be given away by my father?
(A) No the giving away is optional
(Q) I have a father & 2 stepfathers who will give me away?
(A) It is upto you, sometimes the easiest thing today in this case is to
skip the Giving away of the Bride process
(Q) Can I change my driver's licence with the Marriage Certificate the
celebrant gives me on my wedding day?
(A) No, you will need to obtain your full Marriage certificate from the
Register Office. This can take several weeks depending on work load.
(Q) Can I fill my Notice of Intention to Marry before my divorce is
processed
(A) Yes, you can but you cant be married until the celebrant has your
final divorce papers. |
